Hands of Praise
The Hands of Praise
Director: Linda Smith
Members: Pam Blackwell, Joyce Chibuye, Jealanie Davis, Gladiola Griffin, Sherry, Harrison, Deloise Suttles and Art Hurd
The Hands of Praise are a sign language group, using Christian music to tell through lyrics and show through sign language the good news of redemption. Our group is composed of seven ladies based at the Dalton Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Our first program was in December 1999; since then we have traveled to many places in Georgia and Tennessee and North Carolina.
In 2003 we also traveled to Zambia, Africa to help raise money and meet with people there who are starting orphanages in the Kitwe area. The summer of 2005 we were invited to England to participate in church services and evangelistic meetings. In 2007 Hands of Praise visited Jamaica and had two programs for churches there. The Lord uses every invitation we receive to bless us and teach us lessons He prepares for us.
Our goal is to uplift the Lord so that people may be drawn to Him. When the gospel is preached to the whole world, Jesus will come again.
Ø Psalms 63:4: Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
MISSION STATEMENT:
As earnest, committed women of God, we have accepted the call to our ministry. With God’s love in our lives, the Hands of Praise (HOP), a sign language choir from the Seventh-day Adventist church, will communicate our faith and love of God and Jesus Christ to both deaf and hearing. With a willingness to minister, we will present the good news of God’s endless love and unchanging character through sign language and music. Our desire is to share, with all that we have the privilege to minister to, a sincere love of the truth, the hope of Christ’s soon return and the knowledge of His love.
